North Georgia Middle School 14 Cavaliers 6
Thursday, Sept 10th
The North Georgia Falcons middle school headed to Anderson, South Carolina to play a much improved Cavalier team. This rematch proved to be more of a defensive struggle. The Falcon defense proved tough even though the Cavaliers scored early in the first quarter. Grant Walters had 6 total tackles. Luke Jarrett also had 6 total tackles but 1 of those tackles was a massive quarterback sack for a 26 yard loss. Austin Rothenberger came up with a big fumble recovery that keep the Cavaliers from scoring again. Jared Stephens was able to get his first interception of the year late in the second quarter to put an end to a sluggish start for the Falcons. With the Cavaliers up 6-0, the Falcons went into halftime to regroup.
The Falcons offense came out after halftime driving the ball. With points to make up, the offense went to the air. Zack Waddell quickly led the offense to their first score by a couple of timely throws. The biggest completion came to Gordon Thigpen for a 47 yard touchdown pass. Jesse Rodgers followed with a two point conversion and the Falcons were up 8-6. The offensive line; Gibson Gunter, Tad Dillard, Bailey Hanner, Noah Keeling, Grant Walters, and Zephaniah Griffin helped give the protection needed for the passing game to develop. With only a few seconds to go in the game, the Falcons had a 4th down situation. The ball was given to Noah Keeling to get the first down. The big fullback was able to scamper not only for the first down but quickly put 11 defensive players and 40 yards behind him for the game sealing touchdown. The Falcons were able to leave South Carolina with a 14-6 victory.
